DIY Bustier Top

Okay so I've been obsessing over reworked shirts lately! I've seen them a lot on Pinterest and on some of my favorite Instagram influencers such as Marianna Hewitt and Pia Muehlenbeck. In case you don't know what a reworked shirt is; its basically a Men's button down shirt that is transformed into cute button ups with detail ruffles and askew necklines.

This style was trending for Spring but I think this can be a good Summer staple too. My favorite style is where you tie the shirt arms around your chest and it becomes a sleeveless top.

I had to make one! But as of right now my focus is on me and my Fiancè's wedding so I don't have the money to just spend on clothes right now. That's why I thought this would be a nice DIY project for myself. I went to Pinterest in hopes of finding a tutorial that can help me create the look I was going for and I was able to find a few great pins. I created a DIY board that I would be happy to share with any of you! There was one pin in particular that caught my attention. It was a tutorial on how to transform a Men's button down shirt into a dress. The style looked similar to the reworked shirt I like so I decided to give it a shot. It was perfect although I did have to adjust a few things to make it look more appealing to my body type.

Here's the instructions:

Step one: Get an oversized shirt
(Choose a shirt that has similar colors and patterns to trending reworked shirts)

Step two: Button up!
Button the shirt up to your mid bust, leaving your arms out of it and the collar folded in at the back.

Step three: Let's wrap this thing up!
Using the arms of the shirt, wrap them tightly at the front and tie into a cute bow!

I paired the shirt with some ripped white jeans and some brown ankle cut off boots!

This is my first DIY ya'll! Hope to be incorporating this more into my blog as this is something I like to do! Let me know your thoughts on this DIY and if you tried this out use #iacdiys
