memories of january

United States

Oh, January—what a month it’s been! As I sit here reflecting on the last few weeks, I’m filled with so many memories, and I wanted to share some of the highlights.

Liam Turns 3!
First off, my little guy, Liam, turned 3 years old! Seriously, how did we get here so fast? It feels like just yesterday I was holding my tiny newborn in my arms, and now here we are, celebrating a full three years of this amazing, wild, and wonderful little human. Time is flying by, and I’m just trying to soak it all in as best as I can.

Birthday Pancakes & Morning Traditions
Of course, we started his special day with a little birthday tradition. We made Liam his favorite birthday pancakes, complete with a big dollop of whipped cream and fresh fruit. We sang him “Happy Birthday” when he woke up, and his sweet little face lit up with the biggest smile. There’s something about these simple moments that make the day feel even more magical.

Chick-fil-A Takeout & A Movie in Bed
My husband wasn’t feeling too well because he had been traveling the day before and fell ill the next day, which happened to be our son’s birthday. We had planned to take Liam to The Cheesecake Factory, and we were all dressed and ready to go, but my husband was feeling really bad. So, we made the last-minute decision to pick up Chick-fil-A, head back home, and have a cozy night in. We all snuggled up in bed and watched Toy Story, which Liam absolutely loved. He enjoyed his nuggets, fries, and some dessert ice cream! Even though the day didn’t go as originally planned, it was such a sweet and memorable time together as a family.

Liam’s Small Birthday Party

To celebrate Liam’s birthday more intimately, we threw him a small party with his best friend Dillon, his godparents Scieska and Dario, and his Mimi. It was a cozy gathering full of laughs, games, and of course, lots of cake! I made homemade pizzas for everyone, which was a hit, especially with the kids. There’s something about pizza that makes every celebration feel just a little bit more festive.

A Mom Day Out
Now, if you’re a mom, you know how rare it can be to get a break and have some me-time. So, I was beyond excited when I got the chance to have a brunch date with my dearest friend, Scieska. It was a much-needed mom day out—just the two of us, chatting without interruptions, sipping on coffee, and catching up on everything. It felt so good to have that adult time, and I was reminded of how important it is to nurture those friendships and take a breather every once in a while.

Five Months of Preschool at Home
Finally, it’s hard to believe, but we’ve now been doing preschool at home with Liam for five months! I can already see so much growth in him—it’s been so rewarding to teach him and help him learn new things. From counting to reading and everything in between, it’s amazing to watch him absorb so much. It definitely has its challenges, but the joy that comes from seeing him achieve new milestones makes every bit of effort worthwhile.

Prioritizing Health and Fitness
One of my big personal goals for this year has been sticking to a healthy eating plan and working out five times a week. I’m so proud of the consistency I’ve built in January! Meal prepping has been a game-changer, helping me stay on track while balancing everything else going on. Exercising has also become an essential part of my routine—it not only helps me stay active but also gives me much-needed time to clear my mind and recharge.

Creating a Space for My Passions
With so much focus on motherhood and daily responsibilities, I realized I needed a space to nurture my own passions. So, this month, I carved out a small creative corner just for me! Whether it's sketching, writing, or brainstorming new ideas for my art, having this dedicated space has been so refreshing. It’s a reminder that even in the chaos of parenting, I can still pursue things that bring me joy.

Intentional Time with My Husband
Another important focus this month has been making sure my husband and I set aside intentional time for each other. Life gets so busy, and it’s easy to let the days slip by without truly connecting. We made it a point to have a couple of quiet evenings together, whether it was watching a movie, playing a game, or just sitting and talking without distractions. These moments have been so grounding for us, reminding me how important it is to nurture our relationship amid the busyness of parenthood.

As I look back on January, I can’t help but feel incredibly grateful. There were so many moments that I’ll hold close to my heart—the big moments, like Liam’s birthday, and the quieter, everyday moments of teaching, growing, and connecting. Time is flying by, but I’m doing my best to savor it all. Here’s to more memories to come!
