spring home refresh: simple decor Iieas to welcome the new season

United States

As winter fades and the days get longer, it’s the perfect time to breathe new life into your home. A spring home refresh doesn’t have to involve a full makeover—sometimes, all it takes is a few thoughtful touches to bring the fresh, light energy of the season indoors.

In this post, I’m sharing a few simple decor ideas to help you welcome spring, including how I’ve styled my dining room using one of my favorite springtime staples: pussy willows. (You’ll spot them throughout the photos in this post!)

1. Bring Nature Inside

One of the easiest ways to refresh your home for spring is by incorporating natural elements. Fresh or dried florals, greenery, or branches instantly add life and texture to any space.

This year, I’ve used pussy willow stems styled in my dining room. Their soft texture and neutral tones subtly nod to the season and pair beautifully with almost any decor style. Whether arranged in a simple vase or added to a centerpiece, they create a natural, organic feel that’s perfect for spring.

2. Lighten Up Textiles

Swap out heavy winter fabrics for lighter, airier options. Consider trading dark throw blankets and pillow covers for soft linens, cotton fabrics, or even pastel hues. Adding light, breathable textures helps your home feel fresh and open as the seasons change.

3. Refresh Your Entryway

Your entryway sets the tone for your home. A quick spring refresh here can make a big impact. Try a new doormat, a vase of fresh flowers, or even a woven basket to catch shoes and clutter. These small changes offer a welcoming touch as you come and go.

4. Declutter & Simplify

Spring is the perfect time to clear out what no longer serves your space. A good decluttering session not only makes your home feel lighter but also helps highlight the new seasonal pieces you bring in—whether it’s fresh flowers, lighter accessories, or just more open space.

5. Scent the Season

Don't forget about the scent! Adding a fresh spring candle or diffuser with notes of citrus, lavender, or eucalyptus can subtly enhance the atmosphere of your home.

Refreshing your home for spring doesn’t have to be overwhelming. A few intentional swaps and natural elements—like the pussy willow stems featured in my dining room photos—can make a big difference in welcoming the new season.
