14 sweet stops from our family trip home to the bahamas

The Bahamas

There’s nothing like being home—especially when home looks like turquoise waters, sunshine, and time spent with the ones you love. On our recent trip back to Nassau, we soaked up every moment. From beach hangs and family dinners to unforgettable date days, here’s a little snapshot of what we got up to.

1. All the Foodie Faves 🍴

We definitely ate our way through the island. A few must-shoutouts:

  • Okiniiri (Marathon Mall surprise!) – Conch Dream Roll + Shrimp Dynamite

  • Da’ Poke Bowl – Super fresh poke bowls

  • Da New Duff – Jerk chicken bao buns = delicious

  • Bon Vivants – Manolin’s Punch is always a vibe

  • Yellowbell – Tempura shrimp bowl magic

  • Green Parrot – Lobster tacos and birthday celebrations

  • Bamboo Shack – Our first stop, every single trip. The classic chicken snack never misses.

2. Bahamar Date Day 💙

Kita and I had a dreamy little escape to Baha Bay at Bahamar. Daquiris in pineapples, a poke bowl lunch, water slides, and quiet moments just us—us-no interruptions, just connection.

3. Junkanoo Friday Rush

We caught the Junkanoo rush out at Atlantis Marina Village on Friday night. The horns, drums, dancing—Junkanoo just makes you feel alive in a way that’s hard to explain.

4. Bon Vivants Bestie Date

I got to catch up with my best friend Kara at Bon Vivants over drinks and small bites. We’ve been close since 2009, and being able to reconnect, laugh, and share our creative journeys meant everything.

5. Green Parrot Birthday Dinner

We celebrated my dad’s birthday with a cozy family dinner at Green Parrot. After years of not being home for it, getting to say happy birthday in person felt really special.

6. Fish Fry Family Night

Dinner with Kita’s side of the family at the Fish Fry was a night of island flavor, family laughs, and all the good stuff.

7. Backyard Family Grill Out

A classic: a chill backyard grill out at my parents’ house. Great food, slow moments, and lots of love in the air.

8. KFC & Beach with Family

We spent a beach day with Kita’s cousin, his wife, and their daughter, and ate some KFC, of course. It was such a fun and easygoing day with family.

9. Plane Watching at the Airport

This one’s nostalgic—watching planes land by the airport was something I loved as a kid. Taking Liam there brought back memories, and now we get to make new ones with him.

10. Yellowbell Lunch Date

We had a sweet little lunch, just the three of us, at Yellowbell at The Island House. It was our first time there, and we’re already dreaming of going back to explore more.

11. Carmine's Atlantis Double Dinner Date

A memorable double dinner date with Kita’s parents at Carmine's at Atlantis. We indulged in the delicious family-style dishes while soaking in the beautiful surroundings.

12. Cave’s Beach Family Fun

We took Liam to Cave’s Beach, and we went there three times. The weather was perfect, and the water wasn’t just beautiful to look at—it was so refreshing to swim in too.

13. Adastra Gardens Zoo Adventure

We also took Liam to the Adastra Gardens Zoo, where he mingled with the flamingos, saw parrots, peacocks, and iguanas, to name a few. It was a great experience for him to connect with nature.

14. DIY Family Photos at Jaw’s Beach

On our last day before heading back, we did a DIY family photoshoot at Jaw’s Beach. With the soft ocean breeze, golden light, and our coordinated outfits, we captured the kind of moments we’ll always want to remember. Just us, in a place that means so much.

This trip was full of the things that matter most—family, good food, slow moments, and love. There really is no place like home.
