get inspired by these summer family photoshoot + outfit ideas!

Pittsburgh, PA, USA

Summer has arrived! If you plan a family photoshoot this season, I'd happily show you photos from our recent summer family session. They might give you some ideas for styling, posing, and outfit inspiration for your upcoming photoshoot.

For our summer family photoshoot, I envisioned creating a light and airy vibe for our photos. I opted for a palette of soft and neutral colors such as white, beige, and tan for our outfits, I wanted to evoke a sense of unity in the images. This visual harmony draws attention to the natural surroundings and the emotions of the individuals, with minimal distractions. You can shop our family's outfits for this summer photoshoot at the end of this blog post.

When posing for the photographs, I strive to capture a natural and candid look. While I do gather inspiration from Pinterest, I've noticed that embracing a spontaneous and unguarded approach works best for us, particularly with an active toddler in tow. My advice would be to relax, be authentic, and above all, have fun! As both my husband and I are proficient photographers, we manage most of our photoshoots ourselves. We alternately take charge of the camera to capture the perfect shot and also utilize a tripod with our phone to include all of us in the frame.

Scouting for the ideal focal point is a crucial element of our photoshoots. This focal point serves as the backdrop for a variety of shots, allowing us to play with different poses and angles to create a diverse range of images. During our visit to the park, we stumbled upon a majestic flowering tree adorned with delicate white blossoms and decided to make it the centerpiece of our photos. The resulting images surpassed my expectations, and I am elated with the captivating final results.

Check out these adorable family photo poses you can try with your little one.
