There’s something about pumpkin season that feels like a deep breath — the kind that slows you down without asking. We spent the day at Soergel Orchard, not in a rush, just soaking in everything that makes fall feel alive again — the crunch of leaves, the smell of barbecue in the air, and the laughter of two little boys running through rows of orange.
We were invited by friends we hadn’t seen in a while — they brought everyone together for the day, and it felt so good to reconnect. Our sons’ godparents joined too, which made it even more meaningful. We caught up over apple cider slushies topped with donuts, talking about everything from life lately to the little things we’ve all been navigating. Of course, we laughed about the chaos of motherhood and how fast our kids are growing, but the conversations went deeper too — reminders of how important it is to check in, how everyone is carrying something, even when it doesn’t always show.
The boys couldn’t get enough of the tractor ride. It was all they talked about — pure excitement, hands waving, laughter echoing across the fields. It’s always the simple things that end up meaning the most.
Lunch was comfort food at its best — wings, mac and cheese, coleslaw, and pulled pork. The weather was warm but softly overcast, the kind of day that makes everything feel slower and sweeter. We didn’t pick apples this time since only the green ones were left, but instead wandered through the gift shop, admiring all the handmade treasures. I fell in love with a few of the bracelets — delicate, simple, and full of charm.
No photos of me or my husband this time, just snapshots of pumpkins, the boys running wild, and the kind of laughter that makes you pause and think, this is what matters.
Because sometimes the best days aren’t about the big plans — they’re about slowing down, being present, and remembering that even in the busiest seasons of life, there’s always time for connection, friendship, and joy.
